NIGHTBLAZR – Helmet Light Review

Review: “NIGHTBLAZR” is a helmet lighting system with two LED “blades” coated in a thick see-through rubber and to be fair to NIGHTBLAZR it comes rather nicely presented. From the moment you open the box its easy to tell that this is a product that has had a lot of time and thought put into its design and it is all the better for it.

The installation couldn’t be much easier, with valcro straps to poke through the holes of your cycling helmet (or indeed any helmet like a riding one, or other sports) and tight up from the ends of the blades to the heavier battery pack. On this pack is the battery indicator so you can see how much charge it has and a touch sensitive button to turn it on and cycle through the 3 different modes (on, slow flashing, fast flashing). Having installed it onto my cycling helmet in the daytime I tried turning it on and I have to say I was disheartened by the amount of light coming through the see-through rubber blades. But then I turned it on in the nighttime…

The light is so clean and clear, even the backside of it with its soft-red glow still looks vibrant and is sure to make you even more visible in the night-time traffic. There is a buzzing sound that the company tells me is because of the “high frequency of the inverters which are needed for the electroluminescent to glow” and while testing the helmet in traffic it was hardly noticeable. It just adds another level of safety while out on the road and while it won’t replace a good set of bicycle lights, it will perfectly accompany them.

Final Verdict: While at full price they are a little too pricy for my tastes in the current sale they are a lot easier on the wallet. This is not some cheap lighting system from Aliexpress, it is a well-designed product that makes even the cheapest of cycling helmets look incredible in a Tron style. And as a bonus the rubber casing won’t add to any impact in the event of an accident (light many other helmet lights) in fact, it will probably cushion any roadside blow a little more than a helmet without one on making you feel even safer and giving you even more reason to buy one. We give it 4/5 – Its got its flaws, but the overall style of it wins us over.
